AcadeCon 2021 Announcement
Okay, let’s do this!
I mean, if YOU want to do this we’ll do it. So let’s do it!
AcadeCon 2021: Fellowship of the Con is launching a Kickstarter on July 1st that will run for just three weeks. As we’ve done in prior years this will allow us to raise the funds we need to pay our initial deposits and ensure there is enough interest in the event to hold it.
This year more than most we need to know that enough people are willing to come out and play games with us before we move forward. The goal for the Kickstarter is $7k which is less than half of what we raised in 2019 but with the still uncertainty of the Covid 19 pandemic we are expecting a smaller turnout.
As usual, you’ll be able to purchase a regular 3 day weekend badge through the Kickstarter for $45 which is at a $5 discount from the $50 post Kickstarter price.
There will be a limited number of $25 GM Badges (if you agree to run two events, some restriction apply – but not many).
There will be a limited number of $40 for a Demo Table bundles which includes two badges for our friends who have new or in-development games to show off.
Vendor spaces for $65 (in-line) or $75 (corner) spaces.
As well as sponsorship pledges ($25 – Table Sponsor, $150 Corporate Sponsor which includes 2 badges, $200 for Room Sponsorship).
If you already pledged for a badge for 2021 through our previous 2020 Kickstarter you have the option to use that badge for 2021 or roll it over to 2022. I’ll be sending a survey to those folks shortly to get that information.
With that – as of now I don’t know if there will be an VIP level badges available for this Kickstarter. We sold out of VIP badges through that 2020 Kickstarter. If any of those VIP level backers are not coming this year then I’ll put up that many VIP badges on this Kickstarter. Hopefully we’ll have all that figured out before the Kickstarter goes live.
COVID 19 Considerations.
Obviously we cannot foresee how the world will look come November, but whatever restrictions (if any) are in place by our State/Local offices as well as any guidelines specific to the Dayton Convention Center we will follow and enforce up to and including removing someone from the event that is not following them.
We highly encourage anyone who plans on coming to get your vaccination if eligible and able, but we will not be requiring or checking vaccinations status. We highly encourage everyone to wear masks and practice social distancing when possible but currently the state of Ohio does not require masks for vaccinated persons.
Rather than updating our guidelines as they change (if they do) we will wait until October to check and release updated guidelines at that time.
Post Kickstarter –
After the Kickstarter ends, you’ll still be able to purchase a badge through Tabletop.Events up to and including the day of the event. Supporting the Kickstarter is valuable for us but if it’s too early to say if you’ll be comfortable coming or other considerations are an obstacle as long as we hit our minimum funding goal you can wait to purchase your badge when we’re closer to the event dates. Speaking of which –
Our event dates are 11/05 – 11/07
Friday 9am – 11pm
Saturday 9am – 11pm
Sunday 9am – 6pm
Vendor hours will vary by Vendor but usually run between 10 am and 6 pm.
I hope we will have enough people that we can hold the event we wanted to have last year by size and scope. If the Kickstarter doesn’t fund, but there’s enough people who want to come we may look at doing a scaled back event (no vendors, no break out rooms) at another venue or in a smaller room at the DCC. But if we can get to $7k+ then we don’t have to worry about that.
Please contact Michael @ TheAcadeCon@gmail with any questions/comments/concerns.
Thanks!!
