Roo Thompson

Roo Thompson

@Roowerks

Born the daughter of a sci-fi/fantasy-loving Dad and a true crime/mystery-following Mom, Roxanne was destined to place somewhere on the awkward geek spectrum. Her personal baptism into the geek fold took place when her dad would plop her on the sofa with him to watch Dr. Who reruns on PBS and Star Trek: The Next Generation in the evenings. It was his influence that later led to her following many different science-fiction franchises across many mediums, including her all-time favorite, Mass Effect, the video game series that has spawned novels, comics, an animated film, and many a shaken fist and bitter tears. In 2014, she was introduced to the world of modern board- and roleplaying games that ultimately led to meeting John, a veteran tabletop gamer. Together they formed Passionerdly Podcasts covering a wide range of topics in the general field of nerd-dom. Roo is now the President of Rook and Rasp, a Twitch channel focusing on Indie RPGs and community development. When not producing streams Roo spends her days working as a Freelance Layout Designer in the Tabletop RPG industry for companies such as Modiphius and AAW Games, and pouring tabletop enhancing candles for Epic Adventure Candle Co.

Tabletop Journeys - Lewanika, Josh, and Glen

Tabletop Journeys - Lewanika, Josh, and Glen

@TTJourneys

Friends for much longer than any of them care to admit, your three hosts bring extensive RPG experience from even before they met. For almost 100 years combined, they have played in and ran tabletop and live-action games of every stripe. Since then, they have discussed, argued, kibitzed, broken down, built up, rearranged, and dissected every imaginable topic, frequently in living rooms in front of horrified onlookers who couldn’t get a word in edgewise. The Tabletop Journeys project started as friends wanting to get together over Zoom to talk about the games they were running, the stuff that they had bought, and things that they thought were cool. And now, we hope that you do too!

Neal Powell

Neal Powell

@joatmoniac

No one can be told the mystery of Neal. They must experience him themselves.

John Thompson

John Thompson

@Passionerdly

John has been an avid computer and console video gamer since the Atari 2600 and his collection of Sierra Entertainment games (King’s Quest, Police Quest, Space Quest, etc). By the third grade, to cement his rightful place in general geekdom, he became the president of his elementary school’s Computer Club. Not long after, friends in his neighborhood introduced him to tabletop roleplaying games like Battletech, Greyhawk, and Ninjas & Superspies. Moving away, he lost touch with the roleplaying community until, in college, his future brother-in-law started a Warhammer Fantasy Roleplaying group and invited John to join. Since that time, he has been heavily involved in the multiple genres of roleplaying from serving as Assistant Regional Storyteller for the state of Texas in the official White Wolf fanclub, The Camarilla to writing submissions for White Wolf Fanzine in the early-2000s to working in design and layout for TTRPGs from Dark Skull Studios and AAW. His first experience with podcasting came in the mid-2010‘s. His first company, Passionerdly Podcasts was the integration of the website The Nomadic Nerd and formed under the Southgate Media Group. He has now helmed various podcast and Twitch Actual Play shows as either producer or GM allowing him to share his enthusiasm for tabletop gaming with a whole new audience. Later this year, he’s bringing his first tabletop RPG, Gutterpunk, to Kickstarter. Check out our booth for more information or a demo.
